GOLDEN HAT-TRICK FOR GEORGE

George was amongst the medals again over the weekend as he picked up three golds and a silver to round off his stay in the United States in winning style.

Having already claimed the World English Sporting Championship in San Antonio over the May Day Bank Holiday, George took to the Rio Brazos Hunting Preserve in Simonton, Texas to compete yet again.

Participating in four events - the FITASC, the 5-Stand, the Sporting and the High Overall Classic - George was on top form during another weekend in the beautiful American sunshine.

Starting on the Friday, he got his weekend off to a great start by shooting 97/100 in the FITASC tournament, followed by another 98/100 on the 5-Stand.

His success in the 5-Stand led to a Top 6 Super Final shoot-off, which he won by four targets ahead of runner-up Byron Justice.

No sooner had he finished with the 5-Stand then George was in action again, as he returned his sights to the FITASC.

Sadly he couldn't quite snatch a second gold, instead settling for silver behind Gebben Miles. But it wasn't long before George was taking another trip to the top of the podium.

On the Sunday, he not only won the High Overall Classic with another commanding show, but also set up a third gold medal with a score of 97/100 in the Sporting, taking his total in that competition up to 290/300.

A golden hat-trick was within his sights, and George didn't disappoint. He claimed victory in the Sporting shoot-off to complete a quite sensational weekend and a brilliant stay in America.

"I'm over the moon," he said after the event. "I simply couldn't be happier with the way I've performed.

"To come away with any medal at a major competition is always fantastic considering the high level of competition in the sport at the moment, but to come away with three and a silver is amazing. I'm really pleased with my performance."

This was George's second tournament in the US in as many weeks, and he leaves the States with some fond memories.

"It's been fantastic here, it really has. The set-up they've got is very impressive - it was a fabulous shoot with brilliant targets.

"The sport is very much on the up at the moment and I'm just happy to be shooting during such a great time and helping the sport continue to grow."
