GEORGE WOWS AMERICA, BUT CYPRUS IS OFF

George was in the United States earlier this month giving a shotgun tutorial to Dallas-based insurance company McQueary Henry Bowles Troy LLP.

The trip is featured in the Sunday, April 18th edition of The Dallas Morning News.

Phillip Brown of MHBT tells the paper: "We've invited our good customers, suppliers and friends to meet George, watch him shoot and get some instruction.

"George is a friend of the company. He's been hunting with us and has done several of these events. Not only is he a great shot, he's quite a colorful character and very entertaining."

George was impressed by the enthusiasm the Americans have for shooting, but believes they still have some way to go to match the standard of the British sport.

He added: "There's a big feel-good factor in American shooting.

"In America, you don't put on targets that are very difficult. The easy targets result in high scores and good feelings, but you have to miss in order to learn to shoot properly.

"To improve, you must make mistakes and learn to correct those mistakes."

After America, George moved on to Barbados, but has fallen foul of the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

He is returning to Britain via cruise ship, meaning he will miss the next leg of the World Cup in Cyprus, which takes place this week.

The tournament will go ahead despite the disruptions caused by the ash cloud.
