27th July 2009George claimed his twelfth European FITASC Championships title with a performance truly worthy of a champion in Orville, France.
The event was attended by 880 of the world's finest clay shooters, including a rare smattering of American participants, but George bested them all to up his overall title tally to 41.
There were 50 targets to hit each day in a course set by a Frenchman renowned for his very hard and technical targets.
George opened his campaign in the afternoon of day one, hitting a perfect 25/25 in his first layout and dropping just one in the second.
A slight mist and warm breeze greeted George on the early morning start of day two, but he was not affected, hitting 24 on layout three and another perfect 25 on layout four.
By day three, George was on 98/100 and the buzz was growing around the ground over 'Awesome George'!
A crowd so heavy it had to be moved back to give competitors room to shoot witnessed George drop two shots to give him a score of 23/25, but he was happy with that on what was a very tough layout.
The last layout of the day ended triumphantly, however, with George signing autographs, hats and t-shirts after a perfect 25/25 score.
Unbeknown to him, George went into the fourth and final day level on 146/150 with a French competitor and after a strong showing he finished the tournament with a score of 192/200.
All eyes turned to the Frenchman, but he could only shoot a 21, meaning George took the title by three targets.
George had won the crowd and the tournament and the cheer as he raised the trophy raised the roof.
George would like to thank Perazzi, Hi def Spex, Gamebore, Ray Ward Gunsmiths and Ambassador Services for their continued support.
