GEORGE RAISES MONEY FOR CHARITY

George's clay shooting skills came in handy for Demelza on Tuesday night as he helped make over £12,000 for the children's charity during a fantastic evening of fundraising.

George offered a morning's coaching as an auction prize, and it proved so popular that he put the item up twice, making even more money for this very worthwhile cause.

A full round-up of the night can be seen below, and you can find out more about Demelza's brilliant work by visiting their website: www.demelza.org.uk

"Midsummer’s eve saw a prestigious charity clay shoot with some guests arriving by helicopter to see a demonstration by George Digweed MBE. Invited Guns were challenged to a shoot out to beat George’s score on one stand- not surprisingly and despite huge efforts and many attempts, George remained undefeated!

The highlight for all guests was the 115yd under the arm display, first shot strike- a record for George himself!

George was keen to help support fundraising for the Bricks and Water Capital Appeal in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children. The appeal is aiming to raise money to greatly upgrade the facilities for children who have cause to use the hospice by making all the children’s bedrooms en-suite, adding two further bedrooms for teenagers and by building a hydrotherapy pool.

George put up a morning’s coaching as an auction prize and bidding was so fierce that he generously put the item in twice raising £8,000 from this item alone for the appeal! Other items included a day’s shooting at Detling Shoot and to be the Owner for a Day of Kate Digweed’s Horse Swordsman at a race meeting this summer. The evening has already raised £12,000 with the promise of further donations.

The event was held at Greenfields, Canterbury and organised by Sarah and Ian Kemsley."
