GEORGE PROFILED IN THE FIELD MAGAZINE

George is the subject of an extensive profile in the January 2011 issue of The Field magazine.

The article caps off a tremendous year which saw George secure his long-held goal of winning a world title in four different decades.

He has now won an immense 17 world titles in his long and illustrious career.

This is an extract from an article currently appearing in The Field's January issue.

"Is George Digweed MBE the greatest shot of all time? Consider his achievements. When he took the World FITASC Sporting Championships in July 2010, shooting a perfect 100/100 on the first two days of a four-day competition, victory meant that as a senior he has won a world title in each of the last four decades. The first triumph came in 1988, and to describe his triumph in Arezzo 2010, Kate Digweed, George's wife and astute professional partner says, “I’ve never seen him shoot so well. It was just awesome." World-class sportsmen are marked out by their ability to rise to the big occasion, and the maestro says: "I've won a lot of competitions now - I've been very lucky. But I would definitely put this up there as my best win." The Digweeds expect sportsmen of any stripe to behave like gentlemen, so when Kate adds that Arezzo was "a serious competition with proper results" her meaning is clear. This was a fitting result to propel a peerless shooter into a sporting league all of his own.

For more from the article, including the thoughts of crack-shot Phil Beasley and gun-maker John Ward, along with George's opinion of the best drive he’s ever shot, pick up the latest issue of The Field magazine, which is out now.
